Modern Hospitality
The homeowners of this Rio Vista Cresskill, New Jersey, dwelling love to entertain. With two children and many family members and friends, they relish the opportunity to host a bevy of guests. Among their favorite places to gather is the family kitchen, so they desired a culinary space that would meet their specifications, while melding with the modern aesthetic of the home.
The residence was a new build, so although the kitchen wasn't antiquated, the couple requested that the layout be rearranged to better suit their needs. Specifically, the existing kitchen was open to the family room, and there wasn't much division between the areas. In an attempt to create two separate rooms that would complement the home's interior and be conducive to entertaining, the homeowners tasked Amir Ilin and his team at Kuche+Cucina with the job of redesigning the space.
Ilin and his team began by reworking the floor plan. The revised layout created a sense of connectedness with the family room while maintaining an element of separation. Within the kitchen, the design team constructed a large center island, which features Pedini cabinetry in the Integra line. The additional cabinetry is also Pedini. In an effort to keep the kitchen bright and open, the wall cabinets and the pantry feature glass fronts. Limestone flooring and CaesarStone countertops further emphasize the aesthetic.
